Arkansas State Police Troop E Visit Star City Ark Middle School For Red Ribbon Week


This morning, Troop E’s Corporal Mitch Grant and Trp. Drew Pannell got to get in on some Red Ribbon Week fun! The Bio Medical Students from Star City High School hosted a Red Ribbon Presentation for the Star City Middle School Students and invited the ASP to join them! Since the celebration of Ref Ribbon Week falls so close to Halloween, both events were taken into account for the presentation! Principal Gina Richard, along with 387 students were able to experience doing field sobriety tests using various vision goggles, and try out their skills at passing the tests! Cpl. According to Cleveland County Ark Sheriff a 13 year old girl shot herself.

Helena- West Helena Ark Police Officer Being Praised For His Actions

A Helena West Helena Police Officer is being praised for his actions today after talking a suicidal women down from jumping off the Mississippi Bridge.

Without the quick response and actions from Officer Jackson, the women would have plunged to her death. Police were alerted to the incident Monday morning when several motorists noticed a car parked on the bridge and seen a women on the bridge, the citizens called 911 and talked with the lady until the officer arrived.

Chief Green, stated officer Jackson was professional and handled the situation very well, to be a new officer with the agency. Chief Green stated the agency has had two previous suicide in the past couple of months, where women have jumped to their death. One body has been recovered ,while the other hasn’t been recovered The unidentified lady was transported to a local mental health facility for evaluation.

Sometimes the kindness of strangers comes through when it’s needed most. When a lost little boy crossed paths in Alabama with a work crew from Arkansas, the stranger was an Entergy Arkansas lineman.

Caleb Fowler was far from his home in McGehee the morning of Oct. 17. He and his Entergy Arkansas travel team were in Birmingham and had just spent their last night on the road after 11 long days of helping restore power following the Oct. 6 U.S. landfall of Hurricane Matthew.
