On Sunday, 01-21-18, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a theft of copper at the Saline River Bridge on Highway 79. Unknown suspects cut a pipe that ran under the bridge and stole a copper wire that was inside the pipe. A fiber optic line inside the pipe was also cut, which caused the internet and some outgoing phone calls for customers to be disabled. This caused a dangerous situation because the affected customers would have been unable to call for help in any emergency situation.
The Cleveland County Telephone Company has informed us that they wish to put up a $5000.00 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the incident.
If you have information concerning the incident please call Chief Deputy Gary Young, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department at 870-325-6222.
