Sometimes the kindness of strangers comes through when it’s needed most. When a lost little boy crossed paths in Alabama with a work crew from Arkansas, the stranger was an Entergy Arkansas lineman.
Caleb Fowler was far from his home in McGehee the morning of Oct. 17. He and his Entergy Arkansas travel team were in Birmingham and had just spent their last night on the road after 11 long days of helping restore power following the Oct. 6 U.S. landfall of Hurricane Matthew.
On Sunday, October 23, 2016, a pickup truck driven by elderly gentleman that may have suffered a seizure pressed the accelerator and drove his pickup truck completely through the south west section brick wall entering the store about ten feet near the produce department narrowly missing a young shopper. The store has been cleaned up inside and plywood affixed to cover the large hole in the wall until it can later be properly repaired.

The Desha County Judge Roy Rodgers recently resigned on September 30th due to serious health issues. His two year term ends at the end of 2016. The Desha County Quorum Court appointed former 2 term McGehee Mayor, Jack May to fill the vacancy. Many citizens are praying for former Judge Rodgers as he is valiantly battling cancer.
