MCGEHEE, AR. – The UAM Athletics department recently held its 2023 Athletics Auction Fundraiser. The event is an annual fundraiser used to raise money to benefit all UAM athletes within the UAM Athletics Department.
The event was an incredible success and proved to be the biggest auction to date for the athletics program, bringing in over $70,000 to benefit all UAM sports. Much of the proceeds will go towards the UAM Athletics Performance Center Campaign.
The University of Arkansas at Monticello Performance Center Campaign focuses on enhancing the support of student-athletes through major facility improvements. The $1.7 million project will overhaul the vacant space in Steelman Field House formerly home to an indoor pool.
Ultimately, the fully re-imagined Facility will be transformed into a space that will include a 4,000 square foot weight room and a 3,000 square foot athletic training area. These are spaces that align with the quality facilities our exceptional student-athletes and prospective student-athletes deserve.
UAM Athletics is grateful for the continued support from Blossom/Weevil Nation!
A quote from Director of Athletics/Head Football Coach Hud Jackson: “We are so excited about the success we had out our annual auction this year. We are very happy to say that we were able to break the record that we had set last year. Going over the $70,000 mark says a lot about the support we have for UAM Athletics. We are so grateful for all the help that we received in putting on the great event. We appreciate the McGehee Men’s Club for allowing us to use their venue. So many great people gave up their time to make this something really special. We hope to continue to break records every year so that we can move forward with more positive changes in our athletic department!
