When the Arkansas State Police asked for help finding two suspects who had just crashed a stolen car on Highway 65 near the Varner Unit, both Varner and Cummins responded in the dark with officers and tracking dogs. They searched most of the night…finding footprints and blood, but no people. They were looking for a man and a woman who could be badly hurt but had run away as law enforcement officers were responding to the wreck. Fourteen hours after the search began, the pair was located hiding near some grain bins not far from Gould. They were taken into custody by ADC officers, including Varner Warden James Gibson. The man was identified as Sean Patrick Bell, a parolee with a long criminal record and outstanding warrants from California, New Mexico and Ohio. The woman was identified as a parolee from Oklahoma. There were no warrants for her arrest. Neither Bell nor the woman were seriously hurt in the accident. The picture of Bell is a mugshot from 2013 that was taken in California.
