
MONTICELLO, Ark. – Arkansas-Monticello’s Head Baseball Coach John Harvey brought on Kregg Snook as the newest member of the Weevil coaching staff last month. Snook comes on board as the Assistant Coach for Monticello’s program after serving as Head Baseball Coach at Clarendon College.
During his two year stint at Clarendon College, Snook was able to produce 9 all conference players.
Prior to Clarendon, Snook was an Assistant Coach at multiple schools, including Ranger College for the 2017-18 season, Hardin Simmons University in 2018-19, Arizona Western College for the fall of 2019, and McCook Community College from the spring of 2020 to the spring of 2021.
Coach Snook, a Houston, Texas native and former 2015 and 2017 graduate of UAM, returns home Monticello as he enters into his 8th season as a coach. Snook has tutored 3 MLB draft selections, more than a dozen all-conference picks, and has had 5 pitchers sign professional contracts.
Snook earned a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching and Learning from UAM in 2015, and a Master’s degree in May of 2017.
Snook played baseball for Coach Harvey during his time with the Weevils, helping win the first of four straight Great American Conference rings in his senior, 2016 season. Before UAM, he attended Abilene Christian University, as well as Clarendon College.
As a player, Snook played a key role out of the bullpen for the University of Arkansas at Monticello, setting a school record with 30 appearances in 2014. Prior to his arrival at UAM, the school had 0 NCAA Appearances. In his 4 years with the team, UAM had 3 NCAA Appearances. He had 30 appearances in 2014 for UAM, with a record of 5-2, on a 36-17 season. He also made19 appearances in 2016 for the Weevils, with a 5-1 record, on a 40-16, regional finalist season.
Snook has also served three summers in the Coastal Plain League, a top rated summer-collegiate wood bat league. In 2018, as the Mustangs pitching coach, Snook helped guide starting pitcher Addison Domingo to a league-low 1.59 ERA and first-team All-CPL Selection. He also guided right-hander Lowell Schipper to second-team All-CPL honors. In 2019, Snook served as the Head Coach in Martinsville. He was able to produce three CPL All Stars, as well as one CPL Select team member.
The 2019 summer also saw four pitchers off the 2018 squad sign professional contracts (Greg Leban – Atlanta Braves, Gavin Weyman – Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers, Charlie Hasty – Sioux Falls Canaries, Ryan Evans – Lancaster Barnstormers). 2019 Mustang Davis Palermo was also selected in the 8th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. In the summer 2023, he was Head Coach for three CPL All Stars.
