
ALVA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team closed out their Oklahoma road trip with a loss on Friday against Great American Conference foe Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to the Rangers, 3-0.
UAM closes out the day with a 9-11 season record and a 3-4 GAC record on the 2022 season after the conclusion of Friday.
The opening set began with NWOSU jumping ahead 2-0 on the Blossoms. For a majority of the match, both teams put up a good fight, but the Rangers seemed to have a set win on lock. That was until UAM kicked their offense into second gear, scoring six straight points to bring the set to a 23-23 tie. Unfortunately NWOSU would score back-to-back points, taking the win 25-23.
The Rangers came out hot in the second set, starting the game off with a 7-0 rally to take an early lead. The Blossoms climbed their way back into it with a 6-1 series to bring the game back to 8-6. Both teams found multiple multi-point spreads as the match continued, as neither team was able to pull ahead. With the Rangers up 24-23, NWOSU would score the final point to take a 25-23 in set two.
For the third set in a row, Northwestern Oklahoma State was the first team on the board as they took a 2-0 lead over the Blossoms. UAM would briefly reclaim the lead over the Rangers, but lose it as NWOSU took back a 9-8 lead. The match would end with the home team taking the final set, 25-18, and the match 3-0.
Riley Krenek led the Blossoms in kills with 11.
Mia Smalls contributed 34 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were also led by Smalls who had ten digs.

UAM returns to action on Thursday, October 6 as they host Great American Conference member Southern Nazarene University for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
