

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women’s Basketball hosted Great American Conference member Harding University on Thursday afternoon for Senior Day. The Blossoms came out of their final home game of the 2022-23 season with a 68-47 loss to the Bisons.
Joi Montgomery led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (9-18, 6-15 GAC) as the loan Blossom in double digit points on the night with 10. She shot for 4-7 on field goals and 2-2 on free throws throughout the match. She had two defensive rebounds contributed on top of two assists and a block.
Harding (22-6, 18-3 GAC) was led by Sage Hawley with a 24 point, 10 rebound performance.
The opening 10 minutes proved to be the biggest deficit quarter of the contest, with Harding outscoring the Arkansas-Monticello team 21 points to 8. The Bisons were the first team to score, but UAM would score with a jumper from Bailey Harris on the very next possession. Arkansas-Monticello would finish out the quarter going 4-15 on field goals and 0-3 on threes. The two teams would head into the second quarter with HU up 21-8.
The second quarter would once again go the Bisons’ way as they outscored the Blossoms 15 points to 11 throughout the second 10 minute period. UAM shot for 36.36% of their field goals throughout the second ten minutes, while Harding would shoot for 40% in their performance. The teams would head to the locker rooms with HU on top, 36-19.
Quarter three was once again won by the Harding team, with HU outscoring UAM 17 points to 14. The quarter would come to a close with the Bisons leading, 53-33.
The final quarter of the game came to a close with the visiting Bisons outscoring the Blossoms, 15-14. The match would come to a close with a Blossom loss, falling to Harding, 68-47.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms return to Steelman Field House on Saturday, February 25 when they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Great American Conference member Ouachita Baptist University in their regular season game of the 2022-23 year. The match is set to tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
