
MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team came up short in their Friday night showdown against Great American Conference foe Oklahoma Baptist University. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to the Bison, 3-0.
UAM closes out the day with a 9-13 season record and a 3-6 GAC record on the 2022 season after the conclusion of Friday.
The opening set began with Oklahoma Baptist jumping ahead 4-0 on the Blossoms. Monticello kept their head in the game, slowly keeping the game close as they came to a 7-5 score. Unfortunately the Bison held onto the lead for the remainder of the set, taking the win 25-19.
OBU was once again the first to score in the second set, but UAM refused to back down, matching their intensity throughout the beginning of the set. With a score of 7-6 on the board, the Bison offense pulled ahead with a 7-0 series thanks to a few kills and a handful of aces. UAM responded with a 10-2 series, including a run of six straight points, to tie the set back up at 16-16. Both teams would hold their ground for the remainder of the match as the score eventually came to 23-23. Unfortunately, OBU would score the final two points of the set to take a 25-23 win.
The third set began with the Bison taking a 4-0 lead for the second time of the match. Through best efforts, UAM was unable to match the offense of the visiting team as the match continued. The Bison would eventually take the third set, 25-9, and a 3-0 win on the match.
Riley Krenek led the Blossoms in kills with eight.
Mia Smalls contributed 26 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Holiday Ellis who had eight digs.

UAM returns to action on Thursday, October 13 as they travel to Ada, Oklahoma to take on Great American Conference member East Central University. The game is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
