Broken Down Vehicle Lands Man In Jail After Drugs Found In Vehicle On US HWY 165 Near Jerome Arkansas

On Saturday August 6th 2022 Drew County Arkansas Sheriff deputies was dispatched to a one vehicle accident on US 165 near Jerome Arkansas. Upon arrival deputies discovered it was not an accident but a broken down vehicle.

Drew County Sheriff Deputy Allen Edwards mad contact with the driver, later identified as William Hambers age 59 of Jerome Arkansas.

Hambers provided a name but deputy Edwards knew the name given from previous encounters with the individual and he knew he was not the person standing in front of him.

Hambers was placed into custody and a wallet was found in his back pocket. A check of Hambers drivers license showed parole and probation had issued an absconder warrant (Failure to comply) for Hambers.

During a search incident to arrest a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine was found wrapped in foil inside a pack of cigarettes. Hambers appeared before Judge Crews Puryear for a first appearance on the drug charges and his bond was set at $5,000.00 commercial
