Burglary Arrest On Calhoun 68 Leads To Arrest Of 3 People

On November 26, 2021 Deputy’s were dispatched to Calhoun 68 in reference to a residential burglary. After making contact with the victim, the victim stated that she witnessed the suspect leaving the home in a blue dodge pick up and she followed him down a timber road on Calhoun 67 where the suspect got out of the vehicle and fled into the woods. Deputies located the truck and identified the driver as Gary Wayne Nash and Kaeley Gandy as a possible passenger. A search of the truck was conducted and the property belonging to the family was itemized and returned to the family at the scene. After the scene was assessed and cleared Deputy’s then went to another residence on Calhoun 87 where another burglary took place. Deputies assessed the scene and received a list of items that were taken from the home. After both scenes were cleared and all information was gathered, a felony warrant was issued for Gary Wayne Nash. On December 3, 2021 Deputy’s were dispatched to a third burglary on Calhoun 63. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the victims, the scene was assessed and Deputy’s received a detailed list of items that were taken from the home. On December 8, 2021 Gary Wayne Nash turned himself in to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and refused to speak to Deputy’s about the events that happened on November 26. On December 9, 2021 Deputy’s conducted a traffic stop in Thornton on a vehicle occupied by Kaeley Gandy. Gandy was asked if she would come to the Sheriff’s office and answer some questions involving the reported burglaries and she agreed. After interviewing Gandy, it was made known that she was with Gary Wayne Nash on the day the first burglary took place. Gandy was questioned about the other two burglaries and it was made known that she was dropped off at a residence by Nash before the other two burglaries were committed but the name “JP” who was later identified as John Paul Maher was given to the Deputy’s as the third suspect in the burglaries. After Gandy was released, a confidential informant gave Deputy’s information that some of the stolen property from the burglary on Calhoun 63 was at Gandy’s residence in Thornton. Deputies typed a search warrant for her home and an arrest warrant for her person and executed the warrants on December 10, 2021. Kaeley Gandy was taken into custody and some of the stolen items were located in a bedroom closet of her home. Gandy was then questioned a second time in reference to the stolen items in her home and she stated that John Paul Maher brought the items to her residence and asked if he could store them there for the time being. Gandy gave a physical description of Maher and Deputy’s were able to locate his home on US-167 North. While in route to the Sheriff’s office Deputy’s stopped by the home of Maher and made contact with him. While making contact two items of drug paraphernalia were located on his person. At this time John Paul Maher was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Detention Center. A search warrant for his home and an arrest warrant for his person was obtained and executed on December 10, 2021. Multiple stolen items were located and seized at his home including a homemade trailer and pieces of a trailer that was stolen from Calhoun 63. Deputy’s received information on the where abouts of the stolen trailer and attempts are being made to retrieve the remainder of the stolen trailer. John Paul Maher was then interviewed and information was given that he and Gary Wayne Nash broke into the residence on Calhoun 63 and multiple stolen items were loaded into his vehicle. After further investigation it was found that Nash had stored more stolen items at a residence in Kingsland. At this time contact was made with the family members of Gary Nash and it was confirmed that he did bring the items to their home in Kingsland. The family then met with Deputy’s and returned the items that were left at their home. On December 13, 2021 all three suspects were taken to a first appearance and given a bond. Kaeley Gandy was charged with Theft by Receiving, Obstruction of Governmental Operations and one count of Residential Burglary and is currently out on bond after given a $10,000 bond, John Paul Maher was charged with Theft of Property less than $5,000, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one count of Residential Burglary and is currently out on bond after given a $10,000 bond and Gary Wayne Nash was charged with Possession of Sch I or Sch II Less than 2 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two counts of Residential Burglary for the first two homes and a separate count of Residential Burglary and Theft of Property less than $5,000 for the third residence and is currently being held at the Calhoun County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond and also an Absconder Warrant through Probation and Parole.
