Yesterday the Crossett Fire Department was called to a grass fire on Waterwell Rd just past the Nursing Home which turn out to be a Forest Fire. The Crossett Fire Department along with Unity Frost Prairie, West Crossett Fire dept and Arkansas Forestry work to contain the fire in the wooded areas and not get to any Structure’s eventually we were able to get the fire under control and Forestry plowed a Fire line around the burn area to keep from spreading any more . Once we had it under control Forestry started what they call a back burn to burn off the vegetation that was left in the plowed area. The Fire is technically out but it was a pine forest so the stumps and old logs will smolder for a few days the smoke is low to the ground right now due to the cold weather once it warms up today it should clear up some. We would like to thank the above mentioned departments for all there hard work to keep everyone safe and fighting this large fire. If anyone has any Questions or Concerns feel free to call the Crossett Fire Dept. at 364-4134
This is what we believed caused all that damage yesterday we would ask you to be aware of how dry it is even though it has rained here some. This could have been a lot worse for people and was very dangerous for a lot of people and fire crews.
