Good Morning! I hope everyone has had a good week. I hear cooler weather is headed our way and I am ready for it.
Here’s your weekly report from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.
This past week, Mr. Rucker cleaned the football field on Saturday morning after last Friday’s Redbug/Glen Rose football game. On Monday, Mr. Rucker was overseeing maintenance on the jail and trim work throughout the building. He also oversaw the trimming of bushes and yardwork around the CASA building. Tuesday, they mowed and trimmed around the Senior Citizens Center and the Heath Unit. Wednesday, he trimmed around the jail and continued with maintenance projects throughout the jail compound. Also, in preparation for tonight’s Homecoming Game against Barton, he helped County Judge Chris Stanfield power wash the Mural on the Hwy 8 train trestle leading to Redbug Field. Thursday, continued maintenance and cleaned up around various dumpsters throughout the county. Today, they are back in the jail continuing with projects that have been on hold. Mr. Rucker likes to stay busy and keep his labor force occupied. He’ll be working next week in the Sparkman area in preparation for the Sparkman Sawmill Days festivities.
The National Drug Take Back this year is October 28. I would like to remind everyone that we have a drop box in the Sheriff’s Office lobby for any prescription medication that needs to be discarded. It is accessible 24/7 and is the preferred way to dispose of drugs that are no longer needed. If you have old medication that you need to get rid of, this is the safest way to do it. Please remember not to drop loose pills or needles into the box. We will take any medication dropped off to the Arkansas State Police HQ’s in Warren to be picked up by the Drug Enforcement Agency, who will see that it is destroyed properly. Our last Drug Take Back on April 22nd of this year resulted in 20 pounds of pills collected here at the Sheriff’s Office drop box.
This past Wednesday Judge Spencer Singleton presided over our monthly criminal court and the following cases were adjudicated:
Nelson, Dontae pled guilty to two counts of Forgery 2nd Degree and received 5 years probation on each count.
Rolett, Michael Evan pled guilty to Theft by Receiving and entered into the Alternative Sentencing Program.
Rainey, Eddie Lee pled no contest to Battery 2nd and 2 counts of Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to 5 years probation on each count.
