To the residents in the Jefferson Community that may have seen all the blue lights or heard the sirens earlier, one of our Deputies was patrolling Ward Cutoff Road, when he observed a vehicle backed into field, just off the roadway. When Deputy Bledsoe got out to investigate for possible criminal activity he encountered a white male, who we later learned is a resident of Gillette. The subject could not explain why he was in the area, and began acting belligerent. A physical altercation ensued. The subject was able to get back in his vehicle and fled south on Ward Cutoff. He was driving to fast to make the turn back on Highway 138, where he crashed his car. The subject still refused to follow commands, but was eventually removed from the vehicle, once EMS arrived on scene. The suspect was transported to the Dumas Hospital. More information will be released in this incident in the near future.
