This past Thursday, Desha County Sheriff’s Department received 24 Narcan (Naloxone) kits for our deputies to carry while out patrolling the county. These kits are vital in opiate overdose cases as oftentimes in rural areas of Desha County, it may take as up to 30 minutes for ambulance to arrive. The proper administration of Narcan could be the difference in life or death.
Our deputies will receive training on how and when to use it this week, once the training is completed they will be issued.
The kits were provided by Arkansas Rural Health Partnership.
