
Sheriff’s Weekly Report:
Oct. 8th- Oct. 15th
On October 9th at 10:34 a.m. Chief Deputy Jonathan Byrd was dispatched to an address in Watson in regard to a domestic altercation. After arriving at the scene and interviewing the persons involved, and witnesses, 34 year Jose Sierra of Dumas, was arrested for Domestic Battery. Sierra was transported to the Dumas City Jail.
On October 10th at approximately 9:07 am, Sgt. Roland Brown was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 165 involving two tractor trailers colliding with one another. There were no reported injuries.
Shortly after clearing that crash, Sgt. Brown and other units were dispatched to a residence in Watson on Odell Street, in which a subject struck a house with his vehicle. No one at the home was injured, and the driver sustained minor injuries.
During the weekend of October 13th and 14th the Desha County Sheriff’s office assisted the McGehee Police Department with increased patrol efforts during Owlfest.
October 16th- October 22nd is distracted driving mobilization period. The Sheriff’s Office, along with Law Enforcement agencies across the nation will focus traffic enforcement efforts in citing driving who are texting and driving. We continue to encourage drivers to put phones down and drive safe.
