On January 21st 2023 Dumas Police Department was contacted by Delta Memorial Hospital in regards to a juvenile with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Upon investigation it was learned the juvenile obtained the gun from a friend and shot himself while playing with the gun. One juvenile has been taken into custody and the case file will be sent to the 10th Judicial Prosecutor for the filing of formal charges. The investigation is ongoing.
