FINAL: UAM Women’s Basketball v. Harding

UAM Falls to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team was unable to battle back against Harding Thursday, falling 64-51 on the road. The Blossoms struggled to control the boards allowing the Bisons to put them away thanks to 22 offensive rebounds.

After a rough start in the opening quarter, UAM started to turn the table in the second quarter. The Blossoms shot 50 percent from the field in the frame while holding Harding to just 21.7 percent on 5-23 shooting. Mackenzie Tillman led the second quarter surge for UAM scoring seven of the Blossoms 19 points to cut the deficit to 28-21 at the half.

The shooting struggles resurfaced for UAM in the third quarter as Harding expanded its lead outscoring the Blossoms 21-11 in the quarter.

UAM battled in the final quarter outscoring Harding 19-15, but could not string together enough stops as the teams traded buckets.

The Blossoms played solid defense throughout the game on the Bisons initial attack, but it was the offense glass that hurt UAM. The Bisons out rebounded the Blossoms 59-39, including 22 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second chance points. UAM ultimately fell 64-51.

Tillman paced the Blossoms with 13 points and seven rebounds in the game. Four other players scored at least five points and pulled down five rebounds.

UAM will be back in action Saturday as the Blossoms travel to face off against Arkansas Tech at 2 p.m.
