Mayor John MacNichol, D.A.S.H. and Johnson’s Warehouse Showroom have joined together in obtaining a grant from the Blue and You Foundation in the amount if $1,000 for the purchase of a washer and dryer for the Fordyce School District. The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas is a charitable foundation established and funded by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield to promote better health in Arkansas.
The washer and dryer will be available to students during school hours to wash and dry their clothes (and fold them!!) under a soon to be established policy. Mayor MacNichol’s office and D.A.S.H will further collaborate on several grants directed toward establishing a pantry for students. These items will include personal hygiene items, paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates and microwaveable food. It is the goal for the program to be operational with the new school term beginning in August, 2019.
