Hamburg Area Chamber Of Commerce Welcomes Ashley County Museum As New Chamber Member

The Hamburg Area Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome The Ashley County Historical Society as a new member.

The Ashley County Historical Society was formed in 1975. The group secured funds from grants and donations to purchase the David E Watson home from the family in 1979. The home was built in 1918. It was placed on the national register of historical places in 1978.

The Ashley County Historical Society members continue to be the caretakers of this beautiful historic structure. Their purpose is to preserve and share the history of Ashley County. New membership is welcomed to assist in accomplishing this mission. The Historical Society meets the first Monday in each month at 4:30 at the museum. (Excluding few months during summer). Membership dues are $20 for an individual and $40 for a family per year. For additional information, contact Annette Weindorf at 870-863-6508 or Peggy Harrod at 870-853-6477.

Over the years funds have been used for renovation and upkeep of this beautiful building. We have received some grants but most of our funds are from fund raisers and donations. The museum is also rented out for many events such as weddings, showers etc. It is the hub of activity in this small community and enjoyed by all who visit it!
