The City of Monticello appreciates the communities understanding as we deal with not just a national shortage in trash trucks, but storms and delayed trash pick up because of these issues.
We will navigate these issues together and in an effort to mitigate the issues using what resources we do have, the Mayor’s Office has placed several large trash containers behind the Monticello Police Department for public use to help with citizens overflow.
These large bins are for BAGGED HOUSEHOLD trash only. No furniture, electrical appliances, yard waste etc.
Also, the chipper at the transfer station that has been down for several months has been repaired. Transfer Station staff has been working tirelessly since the repair to remove the debris that has collected while the machine was down and we are hopeful to be taking yard debris again soon.
We thank the public for their patience and want them to know we are making progress!
