Citizens, please be aware of the following: Our agency sent out a public notice hours earlier regarding temporary service and coverage issues with At&t. This notice was necessary for many reasons, especially for the concern of citizens ability to dial 911 for emergencies. Unfortunately, scammers have taken full advantage of an opportunity to exploit citizens.
The scam giveaway was this line: “Appologies for the coverag down time on Sept 11! Here’s a little compensation: and a link.
Appologies for the coverag down time on Sept 11?
That kind of grammatical error and incorrect service interruption date would never be on a real message. Add to it, the link is not an att.com link.
Watch out for these type of text messages, you might get scammed.
