On Wednesday, February 1, 2022, the Dallas County Sheriff’s
department was alerted to a Theft in Progress around the Farindale
area in Northern Dallas County. Upon responding to this alert, Dallas
County deputies, along with Grant County deputies and Sheridan
Police Department officers, were able to detain Austin Allen Meeks
of Little Rock who was found to be in possession of the stolen
property. Meeks was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm,
Possession of Methamphetamine, Theft by Receiving and Theft of
Property. He also had an outstanding felony warrant out of Saline
County. Meeks is being held in the Sheridan Detention Center on
related charges.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department has been receiving numerous
reports of break ins and stolen property in the past few weeks.
Several arrests have been made. Dallas County Sheriff Stan McGahee
would like to thank Grant County and Sheridan Police Department
for their recent assistance with the apprehension of suspects in these
cases.
“The communication and response among our neighbors has been
outstanding. We are appreciative of the assistance and look forward
to continued mutual aid with the surrounding law enforcement
agencies. We’re all on the same team. Reports from the public are
also much appreciated and needed. It takes all of us working together
sometimes to help in these types of cases.” Sheriff McGahee
declared. “With so much rural area in our county, we rely on the good
citizens to report if they see something suspicious in their vicinity.
We have stepped up patrols but we can’t be everywhere at once. The
reports from citizens have been significant to our efforts.
