The Monticello Police Department is currently assisting the Drew County Sheriff’s Department and Arkansas State Police search for an inmate who has escaped from law enforcement near the Mainline Clinic on Old Warren Road.
The last direction of travel of the suspect was South, AWAY from the schools. However, out of an abundance of caution, at the time of the incident, MPD and the Monticello School District coordinated to restrict access to and from the school buildings.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but although the search is South of the school complexes, it’s better to be safe when it comes to our children’s safety.
Officers are positioned near or at each school simply as a precaution while search efforts continue.
