According to Monticello Arkansas Police Chief Carlos Garcia, the Monticello Arkansas Police Department dispatch received a call around 9:26 pm on Wednesday July 26th for a hit and run.
A couple was walking home from work on N Conley St and were hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. The lady that was but was transported to the Monticello Airport by ambulance waiting to be transported by air, but succumbed to her injuries.
Within two hours, the Monticello Police officers assisted by Drew County Sheriff’s deputies, located the vehicle of interest.
The suspect arrested in connection with this incident was Laron White 34, of Monticello. He was charged with improper backing, improper lane usage, accident involving death or personal injuries, DWI, DWI refusal, disorderly conduct, Possession of open container, Negligent Homicide.
Mr. Laron White is in jail awaiting first appearance. The case is still under investigation.
