MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team hosted in-state, Great American Conference member Harding University for game one of their weekend series. The Blossoms came out of the first game of the series with a 4-2 win over the Bisons.
The Blossoms got on the board in the first, with Grace Neal blasting a 2-run shot over the left field wall to take a 2-0 lead over the visiting Bisons.
Harding responded in the second and third with a solo home run in both innings.
Grace Neal ripped a ball through the left side of the field to bring home Bailey Camp for her third RBI of the day, retaking the lead. Kennedy Cox drove in Hannah Holdbrook for the fourth run of the ballgame.
The Bisons were unable to respond, leading to a 4-2 Blossom victory in game one.
– Maguire Estill started in the circle in game 1 and took the win, throwing 5.0 innings with 2 runs allowed on 5 hits. She also had four strike outs.
– Kyann Woods saw two innings of work, collecting the save for UAM, with 0 runs and only 2 hits allowed. She also struck out two batters.
The WIN on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to 12-6 on the season and 5-2 in GAC play.
Arkansas-Monticello is back at Alvy Early Softball Field on Saturday, March 11 when they host games two and three of their conference series with Harding University. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
