Olthouse Throws Gem in Game Three, Blossoms Claim Third Straight Road Series Victory

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team closed out their Great American Conference series with Arkansas Tech University on Sunday. The Blossoms came out of game three with a 4-3 victory over the Golden Suns to claim road series victory for the third straight time.

Game 3, 7 Innings

Arkansas Tech: 3, Arkansas-Monticello: 4

Scoring Recap:
The Blossom struck first, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Kennedy Cox ripped a double to bring home both Bailey Camp and Hannah Holdbrook, followed by an RBI single through the six-hole from Lexie Smith to give UAM a 3-0 lead.

Arkansas-Monticello scored one run in the third when Lexie Smith drove in Grace Neal for her second RBI of the game.

The Golden Suns responded with a three run home run in the bottom half of the inning.

ATU could not reclaim the lead from UAM, ending in a 4-3 Blossom win.

Pitching Performances
– Kayla Olthouse started in the circle in game three, throwing a complete game with 3 run allowed on 5 hits. She struck out 3 batters in her outing.

Offensive Showcase
– Kennedy Cox – 1-for-4 with 1 Double, 2 RBI and 1 Run Scored
– Lexie Smith – 2-for-3 with 2 RBI
– Maddie Pfleging – 2-for-3

The win on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 18-15 overall, 10-10 GAC record on the season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back at Alvy Early Softball Field on Thursday, April 6 when they host Henderson State University for game one of their GAC series. First pitch is set for 3: 00 p.m.
