On 06-13-20, at approximately 11:30 p.m. the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department received complaints of noise from a large gathering at Powell Park in Rison. Sheriff Jack Rodgers went to the location and spoke with individuals concerning the complaint. As Sheriff Rodgers was leaving the area gunfire was heard and several calls were made to the Sheriff’s Department concerning a shooting at the park.
Deputies responded to the park area and determined that four individuals had been struck by gunfire.
An investigation was initiated and the names of the shooters were made known to the investigators. A number of shell casings and other evidence was collected from the scene.
The investigation has revealed that an argument between two groups of individuals led to the gunfire
On the afternoon of 06-14-20, warrants of arrest for First Degree Battery, a class B Felony, were obtained for Krystan Mathews, age 21 and Barkley Perry age, 21 both of Fordyce. Mathews was taken into custody on the afternoon of 06-14-20. Perry is still being sought at this time.
The investigation is continuing and additional arrest are likely.
