Gift will enable 800 people with more than 3000 exhibits to participate this fall
Pine Bluff, Ark. – Simmons Bank announced today a $25,000 donation to the Southeast Arkansas District Fair and Livestock Show. Hosted since 1940, the Southeast Arkansas District Fair earlier this year announced the cancellation of the event due to a decline in state funding. The donation will provide the necessary funding for the construction and premium funding for the livestock, home economics, and arts and crafts categories.
“For more than 80 years, the district fair and livestock show has been a beloved tradition in our region,” said Daniel Robinson, Simmons Bank regional community president. “Simmons Bank is proud to support the event and continue to encourage the growth of agriculture and the arts in our state.”
Throughout the last five years, participation in the livestock show and home economics and craft entries has steadily increased. The district planning committee anticipates more
than 3,000 exhibits and 800 participants, including children ranging from 5 to 18 years old from 19 counties, to compete at the district fair this year.
“Simmons Bank has been a longtime supporter of our event and we are grateful for their donation this year that will enable us to continue the competition portion of the event,” said Greg Bolin, president of the Southeast Arkansas District Fair Association. “Families from across Arkansas look forward to participating in the events and due to generosity of Simmons Bank, we’re able to continue to keep this time-honored tradition alive in
Jefferson County.”
The new date of the event is currently scheduled for Sept. 26 to Oct. 2, 2021 at Hestand Stadium Fairgrounds in Pine Bluff.
