STORM CAUSES DAMAGE IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of damage following an afternoon thunder storm.

At approximately 2:00 PM today, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a home that was damaged in the 4700 block of West 13th Avenue.  The home is just outside of the city limits of Pine Bluff.

Deputies met with the homeowners who were able to get out safe, but shaken.  They found that a nearby large, metal barn/shop had been blown by the winds into the home.  The residence was crushed as well as the vehicles in the garage.

The American Red Cross was contacted and is responding to the scene to aid the displaced family.

The Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management reported that there were several reports of trees and powerlines down as well as damaged roof shingles in the southern parts of Jefferson County.
