UAM’s Chiara Sturaro was named GAC Women’s Golfer of the Week
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas at Monticello sophomore golfer, Chiara Sturaro, was named as the Great American Conference Golfer of the Week, which was announced by the conference office this afternoon.
The standout from Arqua Petrarca, Italy, executed her iron shots and putts to perfection on Monday and Tuesday to win the NCAA DII Central Region Preview. Sturaro fired two rounds of even-par golf at the Hot Springs Country Club to set up a playoff hole against Arkansas Tech University’s Jacqueline Klemm to determine the top golfer. Sturaro kept her composure in the playoff hole and came out victorious to claim the top spot at the NCAA DII Central Region Preview.
The UAM women’s golf team has put together an outstanding Fall Season as they won the Oklahoma Baptist University Fall Invitational earlier this season with another UAM golfer – Worawalan Siwaiyapram – finishing in a tie for first place in the individual standings at the invitational.
The Blossoms look to continue their strong play on the links at the Ranger Fall Invite on Oct. 18-19. The two-day competition will be held in Alva, Oklahoma.
