Sunday Update On McGehee Jail Escapee

UPDATE ON THE ESCAPEES: Last night, 31 year old Marceese Watkins was captured at a residence on South 5th Street in McGehee. This morning, Investigators had placed Watkins in a holding cell after having interviewed him, trying to obtain information on the other escapee, Dwight Overbea. At approximately 11 a.m. this morning, the jailer let Watkins out of the holding cell to use the bathroom. Watkins then over powered the female jailer, took her keys, let himself out of the City Jail, and stole her car. Officers from the McGehee Police Department, Dumas Police Department, Desha County Sheriff’s Office, Drew County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Department of Corrections K9 Teams, and ADC Fugitive Recovery Team, all continued the search. The stolen vehicle was found a short time later, abandoned near Bush Street in McGehee. During today’s search, 30 year Dwight Overbea was taken into custody at a residence on South 5th Street in McGehee, and transported directly to the Ouachita Correctional Facility in Malvern. Watkins remains at large, while an active investigation of his whereabouts will continue. A warrant of arrest has been entered for Watkins, with a nation wide pick up.
