Monticello, Ark. – UAM celebrated the grand opening of Boll Weevil Bistro and rededicated the Horsfall residence hall on Thursday, September 5. A crowd of more than 100 staff, faculty, students and friends participated in a ribbon cutting for each of the facilities, followed by receptions and room tours.
Boll Weevil Bistro, Proudly Serving Starbucks, is located inside Taylor Library. In addition to the coffee shop component, the bistro includes a convenience store for student necessities, called “Provisions On Demand” (POD). In her event remarks, Chancellor Karla Hughes said, “Aramark and UAM work together to make sure we are meeting the needs and wants of students – our current students, and our future students. When we brought Chick-fil-A to campus last fall, it was because our students asked for more major brands to be accessible right on campus.” She also announced that Chick-fil-A sandwiches would be available at home football games. “We’re poised to continue to meet and exceed student expectations as we regularly seek student feedback about life at UAM. Hearing that feedback from our students is vital to our institution’s success,” Hughes said.
