UAM Down in Three at Harding

The UAM volleyball team fell on the road to Harding in three sets Tuesday. The Blossoms competed hard through each set, but ultimately were unable to win dropping the match 3-0.

SEARCY, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team fell on the road to Harding in three sets Tuesday. The Blossoms competed hard through each set, but ultimately were unable to win dropping the match 3-0.

UAM falls to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in Great American Conference play on the season. Harding moves to 8-3 overall and 4-0 against the league.

The first set opened with UAM earning the first two points on a service error by Harding followed by a service ace by KalinDuncan. The Bisons responded to take the lead, but UAM did not go down quietly. UAM attempted to battle back facing as big as an eight-point deficit, however, Harding managed to close out the set 25-15.

In the second set the Blossoms took the early advantage scoring the first three points before Harding mounted its response. UAM held the lead at 8-7 until the Bison scored five-straight points ta take ahold of the set. The Blossoms kept the score close before the final stretch of the set when Harding finished with a 5-1 run to take the set 25-19.

The third set went back and forth early as UAM and Harding exchanged points until meeting at a 4-4 tie. The Bison then used a 7-1 to take control of the set. UAM fought to remain within striking distance trailing 17-15 late, but ultimately could not pull of the comeback falling 25-16 in the set and dropping the match 3-0.

Duncan put together the best offensive performance for UAM tallying 20 assists while adding three block assists defensively.

The Blossoms posted seven total blocks as a team with Tori Hamilton pacing the team with five block assists.

On defense, Amanda Toyota registered 19 digs to lead UAM.

UP NEXT

UAM hosts Henderson State Thursday, Sept. 30, at Steelman Field House. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
