RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball player Denzel McDuffey has been named as the Great American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
McDuffey averaged 17.0 points per game and shot 60 percent overall from the floor (18-of-30) in the Weevils’ perfect 3-0 week. He also averaged 7.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game on the week including a season high three blocks in the win over conference rival Southern Arkansas.

McDuffey guided UAM to three wins that pushed the Weevils into first place in the Eastern Division. Against then-first-place Southern Arkansas, he scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked three shots. He followed up with 17 points and nine rebounds at Henderson State. He capped the week with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting against Ouachita.
UAM is scheduled to be back in action Thursday, Feb. 18, on the road against Arkansas Tech. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
