UAM to Host Mayoral and Sheriff Candidate Debates

MONTICELLO, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will host mayoral and sheriff candidate debates on Tuesday, October 18. The debates are open to the public and will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Agricultural Building Auditorium on the Monticello campus. The first debate will be a Monticello Mayoral Town Hall Forum featuring the three declared candidates, Jason Akers, Bart Gregory and Joe Rogers.  

Then, beginning immediately after, at 7:00 p.m., a Drew County Sheriff’s Candidates debate will proceed, featuring incumbent Democratic Sheriff Mark Gober and the challengers, the independent candidate Tim Nichols and the Republican nominee James Slaughter.
