The UAM Volleyball Team has Two Pivotal Conference Matches this Weekend
MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team returns to Steelman Field House for a pair of Great American Conference matches this weekend. On Friday, the Blossoms square off against Northwestern Oklahoma State University with first serve set for 6:00 p.m. The following day, UAM will battle Southwestern Oklahoma State University at 1:00 p.m.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Friday’s home conference tilt will be UAM Volleyball’s annual “Pink Out” to help raise awareness and relief efforts for breast cancer. T-Shirts will be sold with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. The Matchups
University of Arkansas at Monticello: UAM is 7-13 on the season and 2-7 in conference play. Jamie Agnew (184 kills) and Mikaela Brown (169 kills) headline the Blossom attack, while Katelyn Richbourg paces UAM with a team-high 345 digs. Mikaela Brown and Tori Hamilton have used their length and athleticism at the net to combine for 93 blocks on the season.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University: The Rangers sport a 7-16 overall record and 2-7 mark in conference play. Kaydee Honeycutt leads the NWOSU attack with 277 kills during the 2021 campaign, while Tarra Parks leads the Ranger defense as she has tallied a team-best 338 digs.
Southwestern Oklahoma State University: The Bulldogs are playing their best volleyball of the season as they bring a four-match win streak and 7-2 conference record into Monticello this weekend. Offensively, everything runs through Allie Hoang as she has dished out 581 assists on the year. Meanwhile, Markenzie Benoit paces SWOSU with 62 blocks.
Series History
Northwestern Oklahoma State University: UAM is 3-5 in their last eight meetings against the Rangers. NWOSU edged the Blossoms in their most recent meeting in 2019 (25-17, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22).
Southwestern Oklahoma State University: The last meeting between UAM and SWOSU was an instant classic. The Blossoms rallied from a two-set deficit to force an all-decisive fifth set. However, the Bulldogs relied on their home court advantage to sneak away from UAM with the victory (25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 15-7).
