The UAM women’s golf team is in fifth place at the NCAA DII Central Region Preview
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s golf team pieced together a solid round of golf today in the first round of the NCAA DII Central Region Preview at Hot Springs Country Club. The Blossoms currently are in a tie for the fifth spot as the teams head into the final round of the tournament tomorrow morning.
Chiara Sturaro had it all working this afternoon as she posted an even-round 72 in her first round of the two-day tournament, which puts the sophomore in a tie for the seventh position in the individual standings.
Worawalan Siwaiyapram and Gabriela Maldonado each drained their final putts of the day to record a 75 (+3) in their first action of the NCAA DII Central Region Preview.
Shehna Akbary followed closely behind her teammates as she notched a first-round 80, while Kensley Miller tallied one more stroke than Akbary.
University of Central Missouri holds the lead with a 289 (+1) team score. University of Central Oklahoma, Henderson State University, and Arkansas Tech University hold the next three spots, while the University of Arkansas Monticello is in a tie with Northeastern State University for fifth place. The Blossoms are in a good position to climb up the leaderboard tomorrow as the top five teams are only separated by 13 strokes.
