MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team came out with a loss on Thursday as they hosted Great American Conference foe Harding University. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to the Bisons, 3-0.
UAM closes out the day with a 7-9 total record and a 3-2 GAC record on the 2022 season after the conclusion of Thursday.
The opening set began with UAM taking the first point of the match. Harding responded with three straight points of their own to regain the lead. The Bisons would hold onto that lead until the Blossoms could tie the game back up at 9-9. Harding would find control of the set once again, eventually coming out on top, 25-17.
The second set went strongly in the HU favor as they would take a strong control of the match and continue their drive for the remainder of the set. The Bisons would take set two, 25-6.
Set three began with Harding once again taking a lead over the Blossoms early, coming out of the first half of the set up 12-6. A 6-0 run for UAM would bring the game back to even at 12, but it would be overshadowed by a massive return of fire from the Harding offerense. The Bisons would take set three, 25-18, and the match 3-0.
Jasmine Welton and Holiday Ellis led the Blossoms in kills with eight each
Kalin Duncan contributed 11 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Stasha Adams with nine digs.
UP NEXT
UAM returns to action on Tuesday, September 27 as they host both the Mississippi University for Women and Lane College for a tri-match at Steelman Field House. The games are set to begin at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m.
