MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team hosted Ouachita Baptist University at Weevils Field for games one and two of their three game, Great American Conference series on Sunday. The Weevils came out of the first game with a 5-3 loss, followed by a 3-0 loss in game two.
With the 0-2 start to the weekend, Arkansas-Monticello drops its GAC record to 5-3.
Game 1, 9 Innings
Arkansas-Monticello: 3, Ouachita Baptist: 5

Scoring Recap:
The visiting Tigers put runs on the board first, scoring a run in the top of the first. The Boll Weevils responded with a run of their own, bringing home Cade Thompson on a ripped single up the middle from Chase Cripps.
A home run in the second brought a 2-1 lead back to the visitors from Ouachita Baptist, with Derek Potts ending the inning on a strikeout.
Kirk Woolf got the Weevils going in the third, hitting a double in left field. Woolf was driven home by Cade Cancilla on a single to left. Torrin Vaselenak drew a walk in the third to bring home Chase Cripps for UAM’s second run of the inning.
The Tigers saw center fielder Isaac Nowell drive his second solo home run of the ball game in the fourth, once again making it a tie ball game. They saw a third home run of the ball game in the seventh to take a 5-3 lead.
The Weevils were unable to reclaim the lead, dropping game 1 with a final score of 5-3.

Arkansas-Monticello: 0, Ouachita Baptist: 3

Scoring Recap:
The Tigers were once again the first team to put a run on the board, scoring one in the top of the second.
Ouachita Baptist brought home two more runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 3-0.
Arkansas-Monticello was unable to find a run in the game.
The ball game would conclude with a 3-0 loss for the Weevils.
Pitching Performances
Game 1
– Derek Potts started on the mound in the first game of the day, totaling 6.0 innings pitched with 3 runs allowed, 5 hits and 4 strikeout on the day.
– Lane Ladner made an appearance, collecting the loss in his 3.0 innings pitched. He came out of the appearance allowing only 3 hits and 2 runs with 3 strikeouts.
Game 2
– Connor Irvine started on the mound for the Weevils in game two, throwing a 7.0 innings, complete game with 3 runs allowed on 9 hits. He also tossed 8 strikeout on the day.

– Parker Dorrance – 1-for-4 with 1 Double
The doubleheader loss on the weekend drops Arkansas-Monticello to a 10-6, 5-3 GAC record in the 2023 season.
