

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men’s Basketball team hosted Great American Conference member Harding University on Thursday afternoon for Senior Day. The Boll Weevils came out of their final home game of the 2022-23 season with a 69-57 loss to the Bisons.
Isaac Jacksononce again led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (11-16, 7-14 GAC) with 15 points in his Thursday afternoon performance against the Bisons. Jackson shot 5-18 on field goals and 0-3 on shots from beyond-the-arc and 5-6 on free throws with two steals and a rebound.
Mario Fantina contributed 14 points of his own against Harding University, shooting 4-6 on field goals, all of which being three pointers, and 2-2 on free throws with a team-leading four rebounds on top of three assists and two steals.
Ray price posted 10 points for the Weevils in his Senior Day performance, knocking down 4 of 10 field goals, 1-4 on threes and 1-2 free throws. He also contributed three assists and a rebound.
Harding (8-19, 7-14 GAC) was led by Taylor Currie with a 26 point, 14 rebound performance.
The opening 20 minutes of the game began with a 6-0 run from Harding to give the Bisons an early advantage in the contest. The Weevils would respond with a battle for the remainder of the half, but were unable to reclaim the lead from the visiting Harding team. The first half of the game would come to a close with Arkansas-Monticello shooting for 32% on field goals compared to Harding’s 57.14%. The teams would head to the locker room with HU leading, 41-22.
The second half began with a layup from the visiting Harding’s lead scorer, followed by two layups from Cole Anderson. The match would come to a close with a Boll Weevil loss as UAM would drop the match-up to the Bisons. The final score would be 69-57.
Arkansas-Monticello committed only 8 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to Steelman Field House on Saturday, February 25 when they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Great American Conference member Ouachita Baptist University for their final regular season game of the 2022-23 year. The match will tip off at 3:00 p.m.
