The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team took down #6 ranked Southern Arkansas University on Senior Day in Game 3 of their three game, GAC series. UAM becomes the first team of the year to take down Southern Arkansas in a weekend series, defeating the Muleriders, 4-2, and taking the win in their final regular season game of the 2022 season.
With the win on the weekend, your UAM Boll Weevils have officially punched their ticket into the 2022 Great American Conference championship series in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Scoring
UAM was the first team on the board as Reece Reading touched home in the second inning off a David Reyna ground ball to the pitcher. DeShaun Cordova singled to the shortstop and David Reyna scored from an error on the play.
Grant Shepherd stole second and Cade Thompson stole home to pull a double steal in the third inning, scoring Monticello’s third run of the ball game. The inning would come to a close with the Weevils on top, 3-0.
Southern Arkansas finally found some momentum in the fifth with a solo home run down the left field line to get them on the board.
Jordan Johnson found himself an RBI in the seventh inning as a ground ball to the third baseman scored DeShaun Cordova.
SAU found a run in the eighth on an RBI single down the left field line, shortening the UAM lead to 4-2.
The Muleriders were unable to take back the lead from the UAM as the game would conclude with a Weevil WIN, 4-2.
Pitching Performances
Spencer Johnston started on the mound for the Weevils in game 3 of the series. He threw a complete game, striking out a season high 13 batters in his outing against the Muleriders.
Arkansas-Monticello would win the game 4-2, increasing their record to 23-22, with a GAC record of 17-16.
