The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men’s basketball team came up on the wrong end of a 72-46 decision during Saturday’s Great American Conference match-up with Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas.
UAM (9-10) had two players score in double figures. However, the Weevils were unable to overcome a Wonder Boy defense that forced Monticello into 18 turnovers.
Ray Price and Jabari Sweet reached double figures for Arkansas-Monticello
Sweet totaled 10 points and has now scored in double figures in 2 games for the Weevils this season.
Price tallied 10 points and has reached 10-plus points in 10 different outings this season. He is also averaging 10.3 points-per-game for the Weevils.
The Weevils were the first to score, courtesy of a three-pointer from Richard Feagin Jr. Though UAM was the first to score, they would quickly lose that lead as the Wonder Boy offense began to attack. Arkansas Tech proved to be a wall against the Weevils, holding them to just 6-22 on field goals. The Weevils were only able to put up 19 points throughout the entirety, trailing Arkansas Tech 33-19 as the two teams would head into the locker room.
The second half proved to go Tech’s way as they went back and forth with UAM for the remainder of the game. UAM would only put up 27 points compared to the Wonder Boy’s 39 points. Through best efforts Arkansas-Monticello was unable to take back the lead Arkansas Tech had built. UAM finished out the match with a final score of 72-26.
The Weevils fall to 9-10 on the season, with a 5-8 GAC record.
