Lams’ Senior Art Thesis Exhibition at UAM Glassblock Gallery

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Alexia Lams’ senior art thesis exhibition, “Mercurial Rhyme and Reason,” will be on display from March 28 through April 11 in the Glassblock Gallery in the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM). A public reception will be held on Thursday, March 28, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Lams’ exhibition explores different venues of painting, drawing and ceramics. One series explores micro- or macro-cosmic universes through amorphic relationships of shape, color and space. Other representational paintings examine her interaction with the immediate environment.

Lams has exhibited her work in galleries and museums, including the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the Indianapolis Art Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the River Oaks Square Art Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. She has a piece included in the Arkansas Arts Council’s “Small Works on Paper” exhibition, which will travel to nine locations throughout the state in 2024. Lams was also recognized as the “Student of the Year” by the Arkansas Art Educators Association in 2024.

The Glassblock Gallery’s hours are Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
