UAM To Host Annual Social Work Fair, Mayor To Present Proclamation

MONTICELLO, Ark. — On Thursday, March 28, the Department of Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will host its 5th Annual Social Work Fair in honor of the nationally recognized Social Work Month. The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UAM Gibson University Center Green Room and is free and open to the public.   Monticello Mayor Jason Akers will visit the fair to present a proclamation declaring the month of March in Monticello to be National Social Work Month in recognition of the numerous contributions made by social workers in America. The mayor’s presentation will begin at noon.   “The Social Work Fair is an event to educate the public on real-world applications of social work and thank social workers in our community for their dedication to the profession and the services they provide,” said Marie Jenkins, associate professor and director of Social Work at UAM.   Agencies from many fields will attend UAM’s fair to share information on their specific area of expertise and prospective job opportunities for graduates with a Bachelor of Social Work degree.   For more information, contact Marie Jenkins at walker@uamont.edu or 870-460-1747.
